Here at Oak Barn Vets we strive to stick to our mantra of “Traditional Values, Modern Practice.” This means that we keep up to date with modern developments in diagnostics, treatments, anaesthesia and equipment so that we can provide as safe and effective treatment and care for our patients as possible.

For this reason we believe strongly in investing in the practice through staff, equipment and training so the patients can ultimately benefit from our hard work. One of our latest purchases has been a “lightning” multi-parameter patient monitor. This great bit of kit is a piece of electronic wizardry designed and made by Vetronic services Ltd in Devon specifically with veterinary patients in mind; in fact the clever chap who designed and built the lightning is a Vet himself.

It can continuously monitor essential parameters such as heart rate, blood pressure, core body temperature, blood oxygen level, expired carbon dioxide level and electrical activity of the heart in patients who are both awake and critically ill or under general anaesthetic or sedation. This not only gives our team plenty of information to help them manage an anaesthetic or critical patient but also allows us to diagnose problems even before any external signs are detected.

Not only this but investing in a lightning has gone a little way to support a fantastic British company. Look out for more exciting investments that are going on at the Barn to improve and widen the care and services we offer.
