Well it's been an exciting couple of weeks! Read on to hear the fantastic story of Jet, her emergency caesarian and a happy ending! How many pups can you count?
As you can see Jack is rather handsome. He is an 8 year old German Shepherd cross Golden Retriever who enjoys an active life including chasing rabbits, long walks and accompanying his owner out riding.
Douglas is a lovely Dalmatian. Most people think of Dalmatians being spotty, bouncy and a little bit bonkers! Douglas is all of these (in the nicest possible way!) but he also has another trait encountered by many male Dalmatians, he makes bladder stones!
We've had lots of fantastic entries to our #NoHiding Competition. This is to highlight awareness of parasites that can plague our pets, our houses and even us!! Given the amazing summer weather we are experiencing we have seen a surge of these problems over the last few weeks.
Thanks to your amazing generosity and our hair-brained antics we have nearly reached our target for our fundraising for Cranleigh RDA!
No two days are ever the same at the Barn! Have a look at this tiny baby bat that Rosie our lovely receptionist rescued. We suspect it was attached to its mother and accidentally fell off when she flew into the house by mistake.
Sadly we have experienced several sudden deaths in rabbits this week from a nasty viral infection.
Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease (RHD), also known as Rabbit Calicivirus Disease (RCD) or Viral Haemorrhagic Disease (VHD), and referred herein as RHD, is a highly infectious and fatal disease that affects both wild and domestic rabbits. The infectious agent responsible for the disease is a Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease virus (RHDV), or Rabbit Calicivirus (RCV). The virus causes clinical disease in rabbits, and has been used in some countries to control rabbit populations. However, there are now two distinct viral strains; RHD-1 and, the new RHD-2 in the UK.
A massive well done to the Oak Barn Team who managed to complete our charity challenge last weekend!
Bailey with his burst gall bladder is our amazing case of the month for April. He really shouldn't have survived but in true labrador style is going strong! Read his story below.
